Searched but no answer about eprom?
I picked up a 7730 out of a late 80's early 90's corsica.
Obvously it does not have the correct eprom/memcal.
My question is:
1) I was thinking of using this as a possible bench test unit with a prom adapter etc. Is it really necessary to have the limp home part of the memcal correct for the application if it actully is not in a car and just using it to test my v8 stuff?
2) I was also tossing around the Idea of using the WB patch and input for recording WB readings from a non computerized application. Is it possible to supply the power/ ground to the ecm so I can record the WB input (versus having to purchase a 250 auxbox from innovative?)
Thanks
Tom

1) for the bench no big deal not having the correct limp calibration. Ground pin 56 of the MEMCAL and the code will see it as a 8 cyl. This will eliminate the cyl select DTC.
2) don't see why not. I've done a lot of ALDL testing with nothing more then B+ and ground on a '730. Just be sure to get both the IGN+ and the BAT+ wired to it.
