16197427 questions
hi guys
new guy here.
i have a 94 gmc k2500 light duty. 350, tbi, 4l60e
computer number 16197427 BJLH
i purchased a chip for it and received the wrong one, so started doing some reading on why i got the wrong one. looking here, it looks like it will be much more better for me to just program it myself.
anyway, i see everyone talking about a broadcast code (for instance $0D) i cant seem to find out how to get this? also can i build my own cable from my laptop to the aldl connector? i have decent electronics experience, so hate to buy something i can build myself. i have a otc aldl plug that will plug into the port on the truck, and was hoping i could splice this into a serial connector for my laptop.
i did download tunerpro RT so far, and my dad says he has a eprom burner that i can use (dont have any info what it is yet)
looks like i may need winaldl also? unsure there.
next, can these ecu's be setup to be programmed through the aldl? i have seen this capability on winaldl's website, but doesnt list this ecu.
sorry for so much info, and i did try to find what i needed, but i learn better from doing, then i do from reading. i think it will be a long road, but am confident i can educate myself.
please reply with comments suggestions so i can start my education
thanks

hmmmm, since i havent got any replys, would there be a better place to ask this? meaning does anyone know of a website doing mainly trucks?
does anyone know if it is possible, through programming changes, to put a 454 throttle body on a 350 system? reason i ask is ive heard the 350 tbi system is pretty restrictive air flow wise. seems like a 454 throttle body would sure help this issue.
please post thouhts and/or comments as tax money is coming soon and i need to start getting my programming stuff together.
thanks

As for programming, youll need a burner as these use a prom, which is a good thing. With flashing, the PCM can be reduced to a paperweight if the image gets scrambled and it cant boot up properly. A standard two transister ALDL cable is whats needed to datalog.
Yes, you can run a 454 TBI and reprogram it. The largest things to change would likely be the accel entrichment and the thresholds related to when the PCM begins to transition to power enrich. Im sure theres lots of other stuff but those would definatly need to be changed with the larger TBI.

just maybe ill be able to beat some of this newfound knowledge in my head.
as soon as i get my data logging working, i will be back. just out of curiosity, how do i know if my ecu uses the $0D mask?
thanks

That one should work fine. You can use tunerpro to datalog. Also, moates.net has at least the $0D datastream def for tunerpro. [/QUOTE
the one at winaldl is only the single transisitor type. it works at 160 baud only..
you want to build the 8192baud type with 2 transistors or max232, see here:

i was going to ask if that one would be better. i was planning on chasing down the parts this weekend and building it. lucky me has a dad who probably has everything on hand
he also has very extensive electronics knowledge
thanks again
