Anyone using 2 devices on 1 USB?

My notebook I use for tuning only has 1 USB 1.1 port on the back. Is it possible to have my ALDL cable for data logging AND my BURN1 plugged into the same port using a USB Y-Cable? Is there such a cable and is this possible? I have no idea on the port comminucation works but I'm thinking this won't work since it's emulating legacy serial hardware which needs a dedicated port as far as I know.

Thought I would ask just to be sure.

Thanks!

Not real for sure on the Y-cable but i wouldn't see why a USB hub at walmart wouldn't work. The only thing i had to get for mine was a cig. lighter adapter so it would have power. Then again i don't run my auto prom off of it. Actually i think Craig has a USB hub listed on his site. IIRC.

Yeah I kinda really wanted to not get a hub though, I want as few external things as I can get. I might just go with a USB PCMCIA card.

Thanks for the feedback!

USB1.1 does support chaining (chaining is a key component of the original USB spec), however a Y harness would not be the way to go and would not work. I don't think such a cable exists anyhow.

A hub is the way to go. Or, as you state, a USB PCMCIA card.

My hub is just a cheap little cable hub. It is about a foot of cable and the hub/splitter. nothing to do but plug it into the usb port.
