What is CJW 5816 Prom for, 1984 LG4 or L69 5.0L?

Hi guys, I just got a 6455 ECM with a CJW 5816 Prom. They are supposedly out of a 1984 L69 305 (high output 4 bbl CCC Qjet, dual snorkle) Firebird. Can anyone verify this? I need to know if it is in fact for the L69, and not the LG4, since I am wiring this mostly from scratch and need to know whether or not to incorporate ESC circuitry (84 L69 had a knock sensor and knock filter, 84 LG4 did not. I have the sensor and filter but need to know whether my chip uses it)

Thanks!!!

Don't know right off hand but put it in your burner and read as a 2532. Then check byte 6 of the PROM. $00 is LG4 and $11 is L69.

Post to fileman once you have checked.

32V, the ECU is assembled. Would I have to unsolder the prom from the circuitboard? I have worked on the later ECUs that use the memcals, but not an early one like this. Also what do I use to check individual bytes? I have Tunerpro RT.

No soldering, the PROM is the removable chip. Just pop it out of the plastic carrier and it should drop right into the burner.

Tunerpro will work. Just use the hex editor or add that location to a blank xdf.

32V, is this an ECU I can burn my own chip for to modify the timing table? Thanks for the info!

can't say if the firebirds were different or not but I know my L69, 5-speed's PROM number is 5838cjz (discontinued california emissions chip) and that the non-california chip is 5822cjx.

Why would I know this? I'm in the middle of trying to hunt down the discontinued chip since mine seems to be bad at the moment...hope that helps somewhat. :P

I see CJW as an '84 L69 w/a 700R4
