I can't seem to get my USB Serial Converter and ALDL cable to register through TunerPro RT. I have installed the drivers, as far as I know it is right. All I want to do is record some info from my car. I am not prom burning yet, I just have TunerproRT and the equip. mentioned earlier. Also, do you have to load a .bin just to read info from the car? Or do I record info and seve it, and that becomes a .bin file? See I have these dumb questions because I can't get the thing to work.

The most likely problm is the USB converter causing the problem. Check to see that the software was installed properly in the "hardware config" in the Windows XX control panel.
Some USB converters just don't convert RS-232 properly.
You don't need a bin loaded. You record ALDL data and save it as a ".ads" file. You can then load the ".ads" file later on and look through it or dump it to a ".csv" file which you can load in MS-Excel or Sun Star Office. That works well because you can look at just the stuff you are interested in.
Check your PC and see it it has a 9-pin RS-232 serial connector. If it does then test the ALDL / Tunerpro on that.

Well I made some progress!! I managed to view information through TunerPro Rt finally. I could see the values and dash at the bottom of the screen. I could only see half of each number though. I could not record any info. to make a new file. I tried but received and error message window.

1) TunerPro does not "detect" ALDL cables. You will not see any hardware information in the hardware status portion of the status bar. Hardware status is for emulators.
2) To datalog, you need to first select a file to log to. Hit F4 to bring up the ALDL setup window and then point TunerPro to a file to log to. If the file doesn't already exist, you'll be asked if you'd like to create the file. Select yes.
Enjoy!

If not, maybe you have an old laptop computer like I do. Possible BitBLT thing. What is the laptop computer model you are using?

The latest version of TunerPro has a "test my computer" menu item in the help menu. Give it a go.
More likely, though, you just have to slide the tab window up a little higher to see all the dash gauges.

Ok, I can see the dash now. Just had to pull the window up some.
I have been searching for hints and tips a lot here lately so here I go again. There are 4 files in Tuner Pro: 160-baud.ads, _6E.ads, 730.ads, and 747_42.ads.
I used the default (160-baud)to view the dash. I tried to load 6E, but I could not connect to ECM.

At a minimum you will have to list the model & year of the car/ECM you are working with if you want help.
Or you could try all of the ads files and see which one connects and shows the right data.

You'll need to find the ADS file that matches your application. As Junk mentioned, we need more info about your setup before anyone can help you effectively.

Sorry about that guys, here is what I have.
1989 Camaro RS, 305 TBI, L03. Not sure what the numer on the ECM is but it is stock.
I noticed on the setup window that the files were for LB9's and L98's. I have a L03. So I need to find an .ads file that is for a L03 and connect to the ECM through that file before I can record data? Does this sound right?
Thank you for your help guys-
