knock retart $8d
hey guys when i drive my car just driving normal if i put the gas pedal down less then half or what not it's like i hit a wall, i found it to be the ecm retarding the timing due to knock, it retards the timing to 11.40 degrees, this is the highest i've seen it go and it only retards it over 2000 rpms, i went in the spark table and took that amount out and it still did the same thing, would that mean it's faulse knock? would it pick up the sound of comp cams roller tip rockers? they are kind of noisy for some reason, i disabled the knock retard and the car hauls without a hiccup.

It is possible to be false knock. May be something other then the rockers, almost any out of the ordinary noise can do it.
What I like to do is to pull the plugs and check them for signs of detonation. Just to be sure.

if it is false know, which i believe it is, i hear the exhaust and stuff inside the car, my only concern is if i get a bad tank of gas or something, how can i enable the knock sensor and adjust it to be not so sensitive?

First check for exhaust hitting things or close to hitting things (may hit when engine torques in the bay). Once you've tried to be 100% sure on that stuff, you can try a few more rounds of teflon tape on the sensor threads, or buy a 45degree cast iron elbow that was used on some Marine applications. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...ht=knock+elbow
Also don't know if this one applies, but take a look around the internet to see
