Noob Load Calculation Question

I've got an '87 Vette with the 165 ECM, $32B.

What variables does the ECM use to calculate and/or interpret engine load? I would guess MAF vs. TPS vs. RPM, but i'm obviously not sure.

What exactly are the calculations / forumlas?

I will soon be entering the world of DIY tuning and want to be sure I am understanding as much as I can before purchasing / using the tools.

Thanks!
Dan

If I remember correctly, the grams/sec of flowrate and engine RPM are used to calculate the load. There are also other constants used to relate the flowrate to engine displacement and such.
