Will running 3 or 4 wire O2 without heater connected be okay
Hi guys, will running a CCC carbed setup with a brand new Delco 4 wire O2, connecting only the signal wire and the sensor remote ground wire be okay (only the 2 heater wires will be left disconnected). The O2 is in the stock log manifolds. If I use the heater will that cause a problem (is the computer expecting it to take a while to heat up and will it get confused if it is ready to go like 30 seconds after starting??) I have never worked on a CCC ECU controlled setup before, I'm used to the TPI ecu's.

The heater tends to be one of the reasons they last as long as they do.
It burns the gunk off the sensor and gets it up to temp faster.
Some fail amazingly quickly once the heaters go out(dunno who made th jaguar ones, but u lose the heater its gone shortly)
General rule of thumb, it shoud survive, without knowing the sensor I couldnt make a better judgement.(I've only run the delco afs-74)
Running a heated sensor wont affect anything as far as closed/open loop goes.
The car has multiple elements it needs to see before it enters closed loop, o2 activity is one as well as coolant temp and a run time.

It's a Delco AFS 73, nearly identical to a 74 except it has a remote ground for the sensor wire so it is more accurate. The "heater" in these things is a nichrome wire like a toaster.
