You mentioned you refuse to use Tunerpro and emulate in the car. If so then how can you make tuning changes on the fly in real world driving conditions? That has me a little confused, one of the nice features that helped sell me on this whole "burn your own chip" kind of thing was the fact that you could make changes on the fly. This is the first I have heard that it's "dangerous"
Should I try it again? In order for this to work I would think the car has to be running on the tune that is in the laptop screen and not the chip that is still in the car, correct? Which is why you download the current bin into the emulator,,,am I thinking right? Which then overrides or bypasses the chip in the car? Correct me if I am wrong I am just trying to understand this a little more thinking that maybe I missed a step somewhere. Larry.
I do not make changes on the fly with the engine running unless the vehicle is not moving and the engine is idling. I usually use the complete reloaded bin button, then key off, key on. That is the only way I trust the emulator and TP to work properly. I have to much time and effort into this stuff to chance that thing going wrong while driving. Some people think the random errors are no big deal and do not think that it is dangerous. I am more cautious and consider it dangerous......maybe too cautious. Every time I mention that this stuff screws up people usually get all upset about so I kind of stopped mentioning it. It makes it tough for the newbies to deal with this stuff though.

This is all just one person's opinion about how to use an emulator properly. With my own homebuilt emulator and MS-DOS software I would make changes while driving because I have a lot of faith in it. It never screws up, but took years to get it to that point. The MS-DOS software was a pain in the butt to use so I moved on to TP and love it. I just won't do vehicle moving, non-idle updates with it.

You may be seeing some of the problems I did or you may have some other setup problem. I have been using TP for a while now and I know my problems are not due to setup problems. Also, check the TP website for the beta builds. I think one was released to fix a problem with emulating not updating correctly.

Okay

Thanks,,,I will check the website for any updates I may need. It must be seeing some kind of error, it just does nothing when I upload changes.
I have only been making my changes while idling, parked,,,,just like you mentioned,,,,no way I could drive and hit keys on the laptop, I would wreck for sure,,,,lol. I have been idling and trying to change MAF table 1 to fatten my idle BLM's since they are around 138 or so,,,,,but no matter how much I fatten up table 1 the BLM's stay the same. I can change the table and reburn the chip and then see a difference in BLM's, but doing it real time is not working. Kinda frustrating, it would save me some time reburning a chip over and over if I could emulate real time and get it right where I want it and then burn the chip,,,,datalog and move on to the next issue, know what I mean? I have another issue I want to address as well,,,,,
Where is the table to add more pump shot? I have a dead spot when you crack the throttle, doesn't matter much what rpm you hold the engine at, and blip the throttle, but it's more pronounced from an idle. I have read what that table is called here somewhere and it explained how it worked, but I can't seem to find it now. Larry.

Found something?

I was messing with Tunerpro, having another problem and I found something that might make a difference. I was in preferences and towards the bottom of that screen was a box that wasn't checked,,,it was to disable the checksum. I thought when I typed XX or whatever up in the checksum that is up in the list of flags it would take care of that,,,,,,then I find this other checksum box in peferences that didn't have a checkmark in it.
I put a check in that box as well,,,,later this evening I will see if I can now do any real time tuning. Anyone else know about this? Larry.

No check engine light

No check engine light on and no codes present. I thought I would check the box and try it. It still doesn't emulate in real time so I don't know "shrug" I am back to the long process of datalogging then make a small change in the chip and reburn the chip and reinstall,,,,start over again,,,,emulating sure would help the process.
