Where would you start?

First off, yes I do drive a Vette. I hope that's ok. I'm building a 383 this winter set up as follows:

383 Short block (5.7" rods)
11:1 Compression
CNC Ported L98 Heads with bigger valves
Super Ram intake ported
LPE cam 219/219 duration .560/.560" lift 112 LSA
1 5/8" long tube headers and cat back exhaust
Ported MAF
52mm TB
30 pound Ford injectors

My question is on how the best way to set the prom up prior to start. What
I was going to do is change the injector constant to 33 lbs per hour and set
FP to about 44 psi. I use GMEPro software. Also set idle to 850 or so. Is there anything else to consider for a MAF car? I figure this should get me close.

Thanks and great site!

Jason,

Along with setting the injector constant and the idle you should also change the cylinder volume constant to that of a 383. That should get you started

Thanks for the reply. My car is an 89 which I forgot to mention with the 7165 ECM. I don't think there is a cylinder volume table for the MAF equipped cars. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Jason,

That should work pretty well to start with. I'm using Corvette code (165 /w/ 22# injectors) to run my 305 /w/ 19# injectors. I like the vette code cause it already has pretty aggressive timing, and since I'm on cold stat, I can afford some of it with irons. The MAF pretty much gives accurate air rate info to the brain, and putting in the actual Finj delivery rate expectation for the FI constant is the way to go for me at least.

I still need to make a few passes on an array of chips with +/-5% & +/-10% for FI sizing to get it tweaked in. It's about where SOTP can't tell the difference right now.

Let us know how it turns out. I'd heard the MAF can max out on signal (255) on 383+ /w/ nice porting. If anyone's addressed this handily, I for one would be thrilled to hear about it.

Happy burning,
-Craig

Thanks Craig. My car as a super rammed 350 maxes out at about 4500 RPM. I understand the PE vs RPM table is a way to fuel above the max airflow. Any comments?
