you guys reccomend burning my own chip...how do i do it?

you guys reccomend burning my own chip...how do i do it?
in my other post about where to get custon chips burned, trax and pablo replied with a suggestion to burn my own. how do i go about doing this? do i need all kinds of equipment, etc.? i know relatively little about chips, so and and all info would be greatly appreciated. also, are there any good sites out there to read up on this? any books? thanks a lot.
