Best UV eraser for Calpak

Looking for a cheap UV Erasor to erase my chip that is in my calpak. I heard the Datarase II works but you can't close the door. Also has anyone sucessfully used an emulator with a 165 ECM?

You can trick Datarase very easily into thinking the door is closed. It's just a little switch at the edge of it that needs to be pushed in. Why not take the chip off the calpak and put a ZIF holder in its place ? Wouldn't that make things a lot easier ?

Becasue I'm afraid I'll ruin the calpack. I have the ZIF socket. Want to do it for me? :-)

You won't ruin the MemCal. I do it all the time. Just put the EPROM portion of the MemCal in the DataRase with the other end hanging over the side. Rig the datarase to run with the cover open. Then, turn the DataRase on WITHOUT looking at the light and then walk out of the room and close the door. Come back later after it has turned off. Works great.

I think he means he'll ruin the calpak by trying to desolder it. If you can't find anyone to dot it I'll do it for you.... All it takes is about 5 minutes. All you need a soldering iron and patience to do it...

I modified my datamaster by drilling a hole in the base in line with the globe and hold the memcal on with a rubber band - can leave it on without the kids getting zapped by looking at it and don't need to modify the switch. I still use the hatch when when erasing eproms.

Just a thought from downunder
