HalTech ECM

Just wanted to mention another alternative for those looking for a plug and play alternative to the GM ECM. If anyone has any advice or specifics on this ECM please feel free to share them in this post. I contacted HalTech regarding the E6GM ECM they offer. I was curious as to what GM years this ECM is 'plug and play'. Their response is as follows...

My question is ... don't the '86-'89 ECMs have different ECM harness connectors as compared to the '87-'92 Truck (747) TBI systems? I thought that they were different?

The connectors are the same, as a matter of fact my 85 s10 blazer with the 2.5 had the same connectors as my 87 z. I thought about the haltech but it doesnt use a knock sensor.

the Haltech is a pin for pin 12277808, which is an Australlian GM ECM.
Well, I'm talking about the 6GM thing of their's. It's a MAP system. Lacks alot of the 165 stuff for tuning. Actually missing ALOT of the 730 stuff. Meant to be user friendly, there was a GP here in Sep 98 for them. Think we had like 6 guys got them from Force Fuel in Miami. I had one but never used it. Once I got gather info on the gms, made no sense, to bother with it.
The 165 and 747 are very similiar, use the same connectors, and repinned like 4 places.
I maybe wrong about the GP.
Did ya know we ""years ago"" had the chance to Beta test half a dozen GMEPros for free. Couldn't find enough guys to buy burners to get it going, funny how things change..

Grumpy,

Actually - I remember that GP. I've been in these here parts for a long time too

At that time I was more interested in learning the mechanical side of F-Bodies and wasn't too concerned with PROMs. I didn't realize you could actually program them yourself ... hence the reason that I have a TPIS level V BIN collecting dust on my harddrive. Eventually I saw the light ... and ended up doing what I do now

Good to have your input on the E6GM. I had no idea that the GM ECMs actually have more available.
