Prom upgrade if I go from 350 to 383?

Hi...

Do I need to upgrade my PROM if I go from 350 to 383. All the other thing will be the same, cam, heads .........If so it's cheaper to buy a accel/unit and make it to a speed density than paying for another custom burned chip from TPiS

------------------
GTA -89:Free flow muffler, dual 3" HF cats, Edelbrock headers, Vette heads, 1.52 RR 7/16, ZZ-9 cam, Big Mouth, AS&M LTB, ported plenum, 52 TB, MSD 6AL, TPIS level V prom, Mod .MAF, Superior shift-kit and some minor mods. and more to come!

Dunno about parts availability in Sweden, but for a serious hot rod I'd just go with a 90-92 style system. Would need the newer ecm, uses three connectors instead of 2 and the MAP sensor.
Then for $200 you can do you own proms and have all sorts of fun.

TPIS offers reburns/trade ins for I believe $85 - 95. I don't think you will need to change your prom if all you are doing is changing the stroke. Are you keeping the rest of the setup the same?

Sparks a flyin'.

TPiS requires that you buy a new level V prom if you change the engine size. I'm planning to have the rest of the set up, only port the heads.....

Maybe I'll go for a 9 psi ATI later.....

Hey-Sparks...How does you engine perform? with a 383 and LTR, do you have any dyno results?

If you have the money go with dfi. There are no chips to pull out and burn and you dont have to buy a scan tool. (all of that is fine if you enjoy it) But with dfi you can tune on the fly and record data all through your laptop.

Heck if you just want to throw money at something then get a Speedpro, or Motec. If you go thru the archives at the GnTtype list there is an interesting comment by Lance Ward, (codesigner of the SP), that there basic plan was just to make as it as user friendly as possible. That's alot of money just to get a friendly system.
The oem ecms have alot more going for them, and you'll notice over the years the aftermarket ones are getting alot more like the oem ones for tables and tunablility. For the difference in any price I can sure buy alot of proms.
Other thing is that for most folks on-the-fly is worse then chip burning!. Why?, cause fewer notes are takin, and hence possible trends to wha the engine actually likes can be missed.
Plus you can improve the prom stuff in stages.
A diacom is very universal program, and hense you can use it on alot of different vehicles. (BTW, while it takes some effort, there is alot of diacom info readily available)
