Yes, it is.
My GN is electrically enhanced <g>
Modern Musclecar sells what is called a translator and then a translator plus. Both of these allow you to run the late MAF with the oem ecm (1227148 specific so far). I can from the drivers seat add or subtract fuel at WOT, and make universal timing changes, and ramp timing in or out starting at 3,200 rpm.
I also have a devise where I can change timing as a function of boost using a MAP sensor, *thru* the MAT sensor.
also, have a new devise to allow me to switch between 16 bins also from the drivers seat. I haven't installed that yet, still sittin in the living room.
Also, have a switch for clearing the memory from inside.
It is truely electronically tunable from the drivers seat <g>. Specially with the WB O2 and Direct scan humming along.
Direct scan does a HP and torque calculation based on some entries, so that I don't need to run other then tru one gear to note any trend

Sounds very trick, and also like alot of time involved. Nice car. I guess the translator converts the digital reading of the maf to analog so the gn computer can read it? Have you ever seen this done on a 165 ecm?

Never mind that I saw you said it was specific to your ecm.

Grumpy,

I inslalled a MAF translator on my '99 SS.

Does Modern MuscleCar market one for 3rd gen TPI cars?

Is this a suitable method for me to get more fuel during WOT runs as opposed to burning my own prom chips?

Please review the comments that I made on the TPI section concerning O2 readings & tuning.

I not familiar with what our talking about on the 99SS. So I can't coment on it. In general the 96+ cars are really well calibrated compared to the earlier stuff.

I've donated a 165 MAF to Bailey Eng., designers of the Translator in an effort to get a version for the 165 guys. But, they are busy with current stuff, hopefully things will slow enough for it to happen. It might go some distance if someone wanted to get a *group* buy together and guaranteed an initial buy of x amount. I'm not connected with either, and this is just something off of the top of my head.

they both are frequency (ie digitial), the oem one is 30-130 Hz, and the late models are in Khz Late ones can have greater resolution then the earlier ones.
