'91 Vette L98/6-speed Chip??
Did they make a '91 vette 350 stickshift chip? Is it a Speed Density setup? Would this work in my '91 GTA that will have a 350SD TPI and 5-spd? I am not interested in buring my own at this time, but will probably do so in the future. Thanks for any help! The only reason I'm doing so is because someone said that they are only like $30-$40 at a dealer. THX again

Yep they sure did. I used one in mine for a while, but I kept getting a code 52, for no oil temp sensor. I replaced it with a 305 5-speed f-body chip.

Do we have an oil temp sensor? If not, then it wouldn't matter using it would it? Or did it set off the check engine light? So Kevin you are running a stock 5-spd chip then right? Any mods to make it work or just swap motors out and go with it? THX!!!

What is a reverse block out?
And yes, I would get an SES light every time I drove on the freeway. Code 52, like I said. I was using a stock 305 5-speed chip, but right now I am using a 350 automatic chip. The 305 chip worked fine with my ZZ4 cam and heads. I then took it over to Turbo City and had Tom there modify it to give it more timing at WOT so I wouldnt have to bump up my initial timing so much. When I put in the LT4 HOT cam, I'm gonna have to do some dyno tuning to compensate for the larger cam. I dont think the stock chip will handle that cam like it did with the ZZ4 cam.

Kevin I am installing a ZZ4 and a 6-speed into a 91 camaro that had a 5-speed. The 6-speed has a reverse block out actuator that blocks access to reverse when forward speed is 5 mph or more. Can I use the vette chip?

Oh, on a T56? Yes you can use the chip, because our computer doesnt control the T56. You will need some kind of push-button switch to activate the solenoid. Or, I've heard some people say they can get it into reverse without the solenoid.

KEVIN-
How do you like that 350 auto chip? Could I run a 160 stat w/ a 350 auto STOCK chip?
RICK-
A lot of guys wire the reverse lockout to the brake pedal light switch. This way it can only be put in reverse when the brake is applied. Just a thought! Later

I'm running a 160º thermostat right now. My 305 chip had the primary fan turn on temp at 185º but I'm still running about 180º temp according to Diacom. I've tried both the 305 5-speed chip and the 350 automatic chip and I see very little difference on a WOT run.

Cool man, thanks. I guess I'll stick with my Hypertech Stage 2 with a 160 stat. They were int he car when I bought it so they were free anyways! Ya think I should keep them? I don't think that my 2nd fan ever kicks in though???

Nope, the secondary fan is designed to come on around 226º, I think...
You can get a hypertech fan switch to make it come on at 185º, or one from Turbo City (I got this one) or you can get one from GM for a Turbo Buick Regal or Grand National that comes on at 201º or so. The GM one is cheaper, I believe, but I dont have a part number for it, sorry.

On the 730 ecm, you can alter the temperature that your second fan turns on and off if you burn your own PROM. I prefer this method as if you should change to a different T-stat temperature, you just have to alter the PROM and reburn it. With the fan switch, you would physically have to change it again.
Another cost savings reason to look into burning your own PROM.

I tried using a friends 90 L-98 ZF-6 chip in my car about a couple of years ago, and it WOULD NOT START THE CAR....PERIOD. I think that it was because I didn't have PASS key or VATS.

Hi
I am running a 7730 in my 85 vette. My 85 vette has a oil temp sensor as well and I still get teh code. My ser lite comes on after a long highway drive as well but I feel this is due to just that low oil temp. I run a 160 stat and my fan go on at 180. Not shure whatthe critiria is for the low oil temp service lite enable. maybe in the manual.
I dont have a 90-91 manual so if someone does know the low temp enable TEMP feel free to post. I shure it can be changed via a hex editor.

I have a simple solution! Just grab an AUJP bin (that's the SD L98 F-body auto without the oil temp sensor) and change the transmission parameter in the Constant Switches from Auto to Manual?
I was curious if Tuner Cat would do it, so I tried modifying my AUJP bin. When I looked at the actual code, it properly switched the code. So go get yourself a PROM burner.

glenn, theres alot more to it than that the IAC function is way different for a manual car than an auto, when i ran the auto chip in my car with the manual i had real bad low speed surging amongst other things
