Can I swap PROMs on a 1227747?
As I described in an earlier post, I have a 350 TPI setup from a 1987 Firebird which I have installed on a 1988 C1500 truck. It was sold with ECM 1227747, which, as I have learned, is a TBI truck application. My engine runs extremely rich, code 34 is set whenever the power is turned on, and it seems that there are no provisions for using an MAF with this module. Apparently, many of you who can burn PROMs like to use the 747, and I am curious if there is any feasible means of continuing to use this ECM through swapping PROMs. Is there any factory PROM which I could use in this manner? I can order by the 8-digit alpha-numeric codes available on the PROM listings in the FAQ on this website. Can any of these be made to work in my ECM, or would I need a custom-burned unit? If I were to procure a 1227165 ECM and order the PROM through a dealership, are there any particular factory PROMs that anyone could recommend? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Why don't you just learn to burn your own eprom? Go to this link https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml for Traxion's article on how to begin to burn an eprom.
Also, go to every link within that article and read all the old posts on this board by setting the "topic display" on the top right hand corner of the PROM Boards main page to "1 year" and begin reading posts starting from the oldest to the most recent. 99% of any question I had was answered through that way. When I was finishd..I had to honestly say..."That looks too easy"...and it is.
Now tuning...that takes time and patience. Making the actual change is easy, make the right change...that the part that takes some time.
