Vehicle Anti Theft System(VATS) there is alot of talk about what it does but, acording to GM wiring there is a module that that needs to read a set resistance. this resistance is read off of a resistor pellet placed in the key to your ing. now when it receves this proper resistance it takes an out going voltage that is produced by the ecm(5 v) and grounds it at a pulsating rate on,off,on,off ect. the ecm senses this pulsating ground and inables the fuel pump. however it only looks for this during cranking possably shortly after. but, not during normale running. now if you try and put the ecm+prom (usually just the prom)in to a car without vats it will not work unless you dissable it or create a simulare singnal for the ecm.

The most effective anti-theft device is to take the damn ecm with you. Let's see some slime bucket have a spare 730 ecm with the AUJP chip for my car; damn scum suckers.
I've been doing this where I live since I am usually trying another eprom when I use the car the next time.
