tbi programming in a tpi computer?
I was just wondering if it was possible. I've just begun reading/learning about programming proms and I was thinking about this in terms of the tpi eproms having a faster baud rate. If it is doable, wouldn't it benefit the tbi programming as far as having a laptop hooked up. Faster rate would mean more data points, right?

My dad tried to use a 7730 TPI computer with his stock TBI setup in his 92 RS. It didnt work. The car was way too lean, even with 72lb injectors and the fuel pressure over 50lbs. We tried a custom chip in it, but it still wasnt enough. Rather than mess with it any longer, he finished the conversion of the top end to TPI, and gained 17 HP and 70 TQ at the rear wheels.

Totally different injector firing strategy.
Now using TPI to fire a TBI is possible. Dunno why the other guy couldn't get his to work, but I've run a 747 type system with a 730 ecm, also a 749. But, only momentarily since the injector drives are being overloaded in the 730 combo. The 747 uses (2) 1.2 ohm injectors and the 730 aren't wired for that low of P+H injector types. The 730 was used for a single 1.2, and the 749 for (4) 2.4s.

You could use this same setup for having a 730 run them.
You need to figure out what injectors your using and then try and get the Cherry Semiconductor ther are 2 different ones ie 1.2 or 2.4 ohm P+Hs
