EBL Learn Mode Issues

I have the ZT-2 WB installed but I having problems going in to learn mode. I have followed the instructions in WhatsUp.html. If I go to BLM for learn mode it works just not with the ZT-2.

I have two things happening.
1) When it does go into learm mode it is intermittent - goes in and out of learn mode.
2) It does not go in to learn mode at all.

Needless to say I am a little confused. What am I missing. I have the datalogs so hopefully I can rerun learn mode once I get this figured out.

This is from the EBL document............."When using WB learn the closed loop operation needs to be disabled and the BLM values need to be held at 128"

I don't think that you use anything but the narrow band o2 for BLM learn.

As far as it going in and out of "learn" it will do that if the conditions of your driving do not allow it. IE: rapidly moving throttle or temperatures out of the preference's settings. The throttle need's to be somewhat steady for learn to take place.

El,

Learn VE using BLM doesn't use the WB When you say the Learn is intermittent, there are times that Learn VE will disregard a particular cell
because of decel or due to the settings of the BLM Learn parameters in the bin. Again, Learn Mode for the calibration will be dictated by the NB O2 sensor invoking C/L.

Closed loop is disabled. When in BLM learn I turn it back on.

Dom - Are you saying the learn params should be tweaked in the bin?

This part I get....
When using WB learn the closed loop operation needs to be disabled and the BLM values need to be held at 128. To do this set the closed loop enable temperature at a high value and set the key-on (init) BLM min/max values to 128. If the vehicle has a charcoal cannister system, remove the vacuum line from the TB and plug the vacuum port. This is only required during learn.

Here is an outline of the steps required to setup for a learn.

1). Select: File -> Preferences menu.

a) select Learn From: BLM or WB.
b) if WB is used select the WB Type and WB Channel.
c) set the Learn Minimum and Maximum CTS values within the engine normal operating range.
d) click OK

El,

When you are datalogging, you'll see the Learn display light go on and off. That's normal, since the ECM turns learn On and Off based on the parameters in the bin. I've looked at those params and they look fine. Based on what you described earlier it sounded as the ECM Learn was intermittent which may be related to the O2 sensor dropping in and out of temp range for C/L.
If you are using the WB for EBL Learn VE, the ECM will stay in O/L. If I haven't answered your issue, let me know.

I did install a heated O2 and I have noticed that it bounces quite a bit. Should I look at those settings based on the temp in the datalog and adjust from there? I did not touch the settings when I installed it.

If you would like to email me a data log or two please do so.

Just to mention, for WB VE Learn mode, the 'Learn' Indicator light on the main graphical screen isn't used. That Indicator means that the ECM is in learn mode (BLM learn).

Active VE Learn is designated by the green box (vs. yellow) on the VE Learn screen.

RBob.
