looking to purchase the cable and datamaster software and was wondering if anybody has used this. they say it is better than diacom. i going to tune a 383tbi engine with this equipment.

 

Just remember it's engine specific, so for each data stream you need to get the file to read it. There is just a limited amount of ALDL info, and at just so fast of update. About all the differences in the Newer GOOD Scanners is eye candy. Personally I like diacom since I can run it on a cheap 486/25. And have been using it for several years, trouble free. YMMV

 

I just bought the Datamaster. Andrew is a great guy, good product but...
the software works great on my stock 92 Z28. It won't read my ZZ4 chip from Street and Performance in my ZZ4 TPI 89RSconvt. So..
if you have an aftermarket chip, it may not work. Also, you must have a nine pin RS232 port on your laptop. My brand new top of the line Compaq does not. Just those new fangled USB ports.

reading the info on the datamaster site it looks like it will read my 91 gm truck 747ecm and asdu bin with no problem, am i correct in saying this?
