Scantool data: IAC position

Scantool shows, that IAC parking position is 130. Is IAC opens, inreaces IAC position number or decreases? To example, IAC position 29, is IAC wide open or closed?

Sorry about V6, but I'm curious, how is it on TPI engines. My car: '87 Camaro V6 MPFI 2,8L. Have TPI and MPFI engines same IAC?

The IAC position ranges from 0 to 160. 0 is closed all the way, and 160 is completely open. It's the same for all fuel injected GM cars. 30 is a good, healthy number. If you see 0 then you probably have a vacuum leak, as the computer is trying to lower the idle or decrease the amount of air coming in. 160 means the computer is trying to raise the idle. And I believe when you are decellerating, the computer will open the IAC to kinda dashpot the throttle. It'll also be wide open when you start the car. The computer puts it in that position when you shut it off. 130 seems too high for park. But then again, I'm used to TPI.

The IAC "parks" at 130 (a parameter set by the PROM) when the car is shut off to facillitate startup on the next ignition cycle. Once the car is started, it will go down (extend the IAC to close the passage) to control idle. Like mentioned before, 30 is a good number at idle.
