Scan tool help...
I recently bought a cable and i've been trying out some of the free scan tools...
I'm trying to learn enough about this so that I can start burning chips...
First off, here is a small run I did with the scan tool (my tranny is not shifting and im waiting on my probuilt 700r4, so its not very long)
http://thirdgen.bawx.org/HERE.CSV
Can anyone give me a few tips at how everythings looking... this is my first time and I have absolutely no idea where to start!
If you want to talk in real time im always available...

icq: 15181156
Thanks!

Cool! You got my crappy program to work...
What cable exactly are you using? Is it powered off the +12 from the car or the serial port? What kind of computer and such? Running it from DOS prompt or windowed?

And Craig, I have the SnapOn tool MT2500. Someone talked about the MT2500 cable *** 'y and I was wondering if you knew whether or not one of the SnapOn cables would work with your software.

Which AKM cable did you get, the fully assembled one (something like $95) or another model? Did you have to insert a 10k-ohm resister being 2 of the ALDL pins, or is that already in the cable? I'm considering going the same route you have, but I want to make sure it'll work w/out any major difficulties... Thanks!

Greg , Ill reply for him. Since I headed him twards AKM and got my cable there also.
You can either get th3 $95 dollar cable, or get one with out the ALDL connector for $55.
It has 3 mettal tabs you insert in A b and M
The cable is of great quality and has a biult in lighter adapter to plug in.
The 10k resistor is already built in.

TPI383, thanks for the info. I saw the $95 cable on AKM's website, but didn't see the $55 cable. Is it one that Steve Ruse is now selling? If so, which one is it? One of the cables he sells is $65, has everything but the ALDL connector, and just splices into the wires behind the ALDL port. The $50 cable only includes "a serial cable, converter & case, and it terminates at a DB25 connector on the automobile side of the converter box." I'd love to see pix of these connectors since I don't have a clue what they look like...

I got the cable from ANDREW at AKM not russ.
but they are basically the same thing.
Andrew includes a lighter adapter already made in the cable and if you dont want the ALDL plug its just little metal tabs to slip into the ALDL under the dash, No need to hard wire it like Steves cable.
I can try and scann It for you since I have no digi cam anymore
