First prom burned successfully!

Just wanted to share, and possibly sway others. Let me start by admitting that I am a mech eng and probably couldn't know much less about the electronic miracle that is EFI. But lack of knowledge is not the same as lack of intelligence or motivation!

I burned the ARAP code with a little tweaking of the constants (idle rpm, etc.). When I initially installed it I had a problem, then realized it was due to a bad memcal. But, the same prom worked fine in the new memcal! Yee hah, red-neck wet dream!!!

Congratulations! I'm an ME also and have very few electrical/electronic skills or knowledge, but I was surprised at how easy it was to get into PROM-burning. I even soldered on my own ZIF socket. It just keeps getting better the more things I tweak.

Prom burning is a LOT EASIER than most people think and it is a lot of fun too.

When you disassemble your eprom and modify it into source code and learn the assembly language, it opens up UNLIMITED possibilities. I've just started diving into this and it is REALLY exciting.

Have fun.

Shawn,
Congratulations on your first efforts. I've been thinking about running the ARAP eprom in my car as well. Would be interested in your experience running this new code.
