stock PROM swap question

Vader helped me with a fuel delivery problem over on the engine tech board (long story short: did an engine swap 305-> 350, having fuel delivery problems due to EGR and PROM)and suggested that I swap out the PROM I'm using (stock 305) for a stock 350 PROM. While this won't get me optimum performance it'll help with the fuel delivery problem until I can afford to invest in burning my own PROMs.

But can I use the stock 350 PROM if my car is a 5-speed? IIRC, GM didn't make a 350 with a 5-speed. So won't a stock PROM from an 89 350 Formula give off codes?

Thanks for the help.

I used a stock 305 5-speed chip in my 350 5-speed car for a year, and had no problems with it. I also tried a 350 automatic chip, and the only difference I noticed was the shift light didnt come on.

Now I do my own chips and I have it set as a 350 5-speed.

This brings up another question -- how difficult is it to simply burn a chip like that? Would I just have to load up the stock 350 bin, then change the variable for the transmission only? Or would I start from scratch and do everything (spark, timing, etc)?

Maverick,
I don't see if you have alumin heads or not, but what i did was use the 89vette 6speed chip(APYP.bin). I then disabled vats, egr, and whatever else i felt was neccasarry, and of course i changed the injector size to 24lbs. It runs great now!, of course it needs tuning but i'm going to wait till the Speed Density is ready to go in.
