Problem with WinBin

Once I select my BIN file and ECU file I hit edit file. What happens is I get a runtime error 8005 and PORT already Open.

I cannot get the damn thing working. Anyone have any idea?

It keeps freezing up on me I've downloaded it twice, but it jams up as soon as I hit edit. I have no idea.

This error stems from the configuration of your serial ports. It seems that the software author did not take into consideration the variabilty of PC system configurations. I still have no clue as to why software such as this even uses a serial port, most popular eprom burners today are parallel port devices. I wish that developers of software would either provide the proper support, upgrades, bug fixes, etc. or sell the source code to someone who actually gives a damn. Enough of my rambling...
You need to make a small change to the winbin.ini file found in the winbin program directory. Change the line that reads "Port=1" to "Port=2". That should fix it unless your port config varys drastically from the norms.

Mick, thanks for the idea. I gave it a go and still no luck. Now it tells me invalid port number!

I have attached a copy of the winbin.ini file any other changes I should make?

Mike

I have mine set to Por=1 and it works just fine. I don't know anything about computer ports beyond that.

Contact winbin's author, he was very helpful when I had trouble with it.

You probably have a modem on com1, and com2 does not exist. Therefore, you have no choice but to use com1 "port=1" and make sure you are not using the modem when you use the software. If you do contact the software author, please let him know there are many that are rather disappointed with this litte useless feature.
