Changing from $32B to $6E ARAP??
Changing from $32B to $6E ARAP??
I did some research and am still unsure of what needs to be changed to use the ARAP.bin on my car. The Vats is easy to disable. What else do i need to do? If i need to use my stock settings how can i figure them out. i do not have a $32B .ecu file for winbin?

You'll need to change your spark advance table back to the stock '87 settings, change the open loop tables (vs. rpm and vs. coolant temp), change the idle speed vs. coolant temp table to suit your preference
, injector constant (flow rate), fan on/off speeds to work with your thermostat temperature and/or preferred operating temperature, Power Enrichment tables (fuel and spark advance), and maybe some other little stuff that might not make a difference. I switched over to the $6E code late last year, starting with the ARAP bin, but using the settings from my modified '87 bin.

Greg, I am not sure all of that is really necessary. Of course, it doesnt hurt to try it, but just to get started, all I did to use the ARAP.bin is to:
- diable VATS
- change injector flow rate
- change fan turn on to match my thermostat better (dont even need to do this, but I recommend lowering the fan turn on temps)
Nothing else needs to be done to get started. Not even the spark tables. The arap tables seem to be a good place to begin. I went from the updated GM $32 code for 86 to the $6e arap with just those changes and dropped .3 off my ET, and gained 2-3 mph.

You could go either way. I took the ARAP bin, put most of the values in from my 88 ADS chip, and went from there. I figured I would start with a bin that works, then change the numbers slowly towards the ARAP bin. I am only on my 4th chip, but I just started driving the car a few weeks ago. I think the main spark advance curve is too aggressive for a stock TPI motor. I have my initial timing advanced to 10deg, but I will be going back to stock 6 deg, and start increasing the table values. That is one area that I don't want to push too far!!!
Enjoy.
