Tuner cat definition file question
Tuner cat definition file question
I loaded my original eprom onto my tuner cat and it said that I need a $10 definition file. Has anyone heard of this or using it? Also does tuner cat offer this definition file? Thanks.

I don't see if listed in their list of ECM/bins they support. You might try e-mailing them and see if they actually do support it and don't have it listed or if they're working on it...

What type of vehicle (ecm/induction) is your car? That may be a custom eprom where the writer has caused it to reference a different PROM ID to avoid people from hacking it with TunerCat.

Glenn, just curious, but if that was the case, fixing it (so TC could read it)would be as simple as opening it in a binary editor and making it 'correct' for the ecm, right?

Ed, what you need to do is create a special TDF to open the BIN with the required PROM ID, and then rewrite it with the "correct" PROM ID. Or, you alter the PROM ID in the TunerCat TDF to read the "altered" BIN.
But you need TDF Editor for this. Personally, I think TDF Editor is a MUST HAVE for anyone wanting to get into Eprom Burning in a serious way. I use TDF Editor to create special TDFs when the particular constant or table is not defined in the standard TDF from TunerCat. Of course, I fire this special TDF to TunerCat so they can incorporate these into their future revisions.
Anyone how has the 8D TDF should ask TunerCat for a copy of my XXX.TDF for the 8D TDF as it has a lot of the constants for the BLM table (I found it useful to alter the threshold values so I use more of the BLM table in normal driving), plus definitions to help control the Low Octane Retard routine.
Currently, I am helping TunerCat to modify their TDFs so they will be either fully in Metric or fully in English (except the MAP sensor). Celsius is fine for us Canadians, but its a bit of a pain for Americans. I found a way to get the correct factor for Fahrenheit which I have told TunerCat about. While I created a fully Metric for myself as I need Km/h, not MPH.
Did I ever mention how much I like TDF Editor?
