What total ignition lead is best for N/A cars?

With PE spark advance set to zero, I'm running 32 degrees at 3600 and 192 LV8 up with no knock. Since WOT runs are going to kill me or get me thrown in jail going 125 all the time, I thought I'd ask what other people think rather than increasing it one degree at time. Is not 36 degrees usually the best lead for NA motors if there is no knock?

More timing is not always better. A more-efficient head will need less timing than a lesser head. For example, the LS1 heads flow better than nearly any aftermarket heat out there, and the numbers those engines are putting out with mild mods are just phenomenal. The ones I know of are finding best power at 29-32 degrees total timing. Yes, it'd be safe and smart to only advance it 1 degree at a time until you get knock, then back it off 1-2 degrees from there just in case.

36d is for like 76cc chamber. In a word it's just so large that it takes alot of timing for burning to get done. With 58cc AL heads 28d can work just perfectly.

General statements of x-y- or Z is what the magazine jerks use. They are still hyping info from flat head ford days, when 60 Octane gas was used.

Grump,

They shop that built my motor has an engine dyno and uses Motec DFI. 396 LT4's like 35 degrees total (CNC ported heads 58cc chamber)he claims. He also shoots for an AFR of 12.8 at peak torque and 13.0 from there to max RPM. I have 58cc chambers.
