Forgetting the simple things ...
Don't forget the simple things that you learned BEFORE you started programming EPROMs. Case and point ....
Took a local MAFB buddy for a drive in my IROC (230/245 cam, 3600 stall, ported AFR190s, MiniRam). On the 1-2 shift and on the 2-3 shift there was a major bog directly after the shift. WTF. I couldn't find anything wrong. Everything looked good. Well, my friend lit a spark in my head that reminded me of what I would do BEFORE I learned to program EPROMs. Reset the ECM. I was carrying around an old ESC trouble code from weeks ago when I was testing my knock sensor. I reset the ECM and did a WOT blast. The bog was gone.

I'll second that! I've been looking at EGR, Canister Purge, vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, even bad injectors to solve a miss during cruise or minimal throttle...
only to find one plug wire poorly connected at the distributor. Clicked that sucker on and the problem went away! Sheesh!

Bruce,
Its actually laziness. I have diacom hooked up about 75% of the time that I am in the car. The 'Trouble Codes' was bleepin' at me but I just ignored it because I knew that it was the ESC code that I threw a long time ago. Your basic laziness ... I have to run inside and get a wrench, pop the hood, undo the battery, bla, bla, bla ... rofl. Fact of the matter is that I have an actual diacom scan with this trouble code in the ECM memory and there was absolutely no timing and/or fuel changes because of this code being in memory. Very wierd. All of a sudden it came back into play and gave me that bog. Very wierd.
lol ... yea ... get rid of the stall saver ... heck no. I love that code

Actually!, you don't NEED to pull the battery cable off. Just look for the orange push plug connector by the battery. It looks like the plug you would unplug when setting the timing, by unplugging that you will be able to clear the computers memory(i really hate loosing radio settings).

Well, us guys with the Miniram don't have it that easy. The Miniram harness bypasses that fuse for us since the harness is totally independent. I'm guessing you just disconected the ecm fuse on the 4-fuse harness fuseblock right TRAX?....then again, I could be wrong.
Speaking of resetting codes, do any of you guys get lowered performance for the first several minutes/miles after you re-install a chip, or when you reset your trouble codes? I know the ECM needs to "re-learn" our driving styles once reset, so I wonder how much this affects performance while re-learning. Does it affect full throttle 1/4 mile blasts at the track.
When I go through tech at Rt.66, the tech guy makes everyone with battery disconnects bring their RPM's up to ~2000 as he switches off power behind the car.....well, there goes my damn ECM learned memory right???....Grrrrrr.
I'm soon going to run a switched constant power lead directly from my trunk mounted battery to retain ECM power for when tech cuts power during inspection. Or is this a waste of time?

How about the clear ecm trouble code using daicom. Actaully that hasnt worked for me lately. I am running a 91 f body vin.
Like tim I have diacom about 75% of the time.
Hmmm I have the ESC (set timing code) You guys all feel you should definately reset the ECM after checking timing????? Dont get me wrong I do reset the codes. but like at the track I check timing and make adjustments after about 3 runs.
Steve ..What kind of car you running that wher RT66 makes you turn your car off to check a batt disconnect. I see them check that on pro street cars but not us street cars.
I am a local rt66'r as well.
