Is there a freeware version of "Diacom" for engine diagnostics?

Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: Th700R4 Jr. Raptor
Is there a freeware version of "Diacom" for engine diagnostics?
Well, i have a laptop, and the ALDL-serial interface cable doesn't look hard to make. Is there software i can download somewhere which will reay the ECU information off of my 1986 IROC's computer?

craig moates software is free, i think there is a link to it in Traxions article, or a couple of threads down, in the cable thread
