I'm throwing in the towel!
I'm throwing in the towel!
I'll probably get banned for saying this
but with my extremely busy work and family schedule, I don't have any time to work on my tuning. After the 7730 conversion running the 90 vette bin, the car runs worse that it ever did. VE tables are way off as expected. So I had a really bad day last Friday, called Formato and ordered a chip. Yes, Yes I know what you are saying. I have all the tuning stuff ie, Diacom, Tunercat, GMEPro, but don't have enough time with my limited experiance (just what I read) on speed density. If you knew what I paid for the chip I would definately be banished!
The other reason is that I have to get it inspected before the end of the month and I'm leaving for vacation of Friday for 10 days. If I take it to the inspeciton station with it runnign like it is now, I won't have a prayer passing PA smog.
I still hope to fine tune the Formato chip when I fin the time later in the summer.
Take care,
Jason

Jason,
Sorry to hear that you can't work on it. Atleast you are getting a quality chip. After you pass the smog tests you can get back into it. You won't be able to alter the Formato chip though. From what i hear , he switches some tables around or maybe its just the prom ID. To put a long story short. You won't be able to read the chip. Chris(TPI383) has one in his car, he couldn't read his.
I'd love to help tune your car if you were closer...

Only takes one full day to get the lower and mid VE portions relatively close. Took me one day to get my 230/245 cammed MiniRam close (but will take a long time to be perfect). Formato's chip will yield BLMs that are more off than that one day of tuning. Wow. I do understand the 'time' thing though. But, definitely a huge HUGE waste of money. I wonder if the Formato chip will even have the Pump Shot where it needs to be. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Trax, I hear you. They told me they will keep re-programming the chip until I'm happy. They also demand Diacom files and claim they know all about Miniram's and pump shots and all its quirks since Jim Formato designed the intake. So it was one of those days where they said all the right things and made me feel better. A full day to get the VE's close? I honestly can say right now, I don't have a full day unless I can take a day off work, which I can, then ship the wife and kids off for a whole day to stay out of my hair. That's the hard part.
BTW, I'm driving right through your town on Friday on my way to North Carolina. I'll wave when I go through!

Back when TTS was selling some of the first tuning software(grumpy you ever work with his) he would alter the chip tables as well . My bud used to be able to fix it for me to read other chips.
