86-92 question

I was reading TRAXIONS prom burning intro and i says that 86-92 chips have to be taken apart and re sodered???? this seems very complicated, I could understand better if i saw what he was talking about but the pics wouldnt come up. any one who has pics of this process please email them to me, thanks- TOT

The EPROMs used with the '165 and '730 are mounted on "carriers" along with a couple other chips, before they are installed in the ECM. Since the EPROM cannot be directly plugged into the programmer socket, you have to either use an adapter (easiest method) or de-solder and socket the chip.

the adapter you need is simply an IDC header connector with wire-wrap terminals. Somebody here should have a part number.

Oh, you need to modify your eraser so that it'll work with the lid open, too.
