$58 and CC

I removed my CC when I swapped to $58 code, But the car stinks gas... And I dont like that anymore....

So is the only option taking one from a old car or could I wire the CC to something else, not used in the $58 code ( or TCC/brakelight/EGR or something?)

If I use one from a carb would'nt I fill it with air under boost? and soulnt it be lika a big air leak under idle/part throttle?

A carb one would work. I would say at a minimum though, you would need a check valve to prevent boost from creeping into the canister, and popping the bottom out!

How about using stock one and feeding it with a ign+ and ground it E9 on the 749 and use the EGR signal?

I dunno. I guess it depends on what the EGR does. I think it normally opens once you hit a certain MPH, or RPM (not sure, just guessing), which sounds interesting, like it may work. If you can hook it up so the logic opens the vent during idle or less than ?? Mph, then that should work sweet. You'd have to dig and understand the operation of the EGR, which I don't, maybe the code guru's will chime in. The EGR driver should be able to switch the canister purge, though, no problem. You 'd also have to check to see what boost does, if it pushes the valve open or not, might still need a check valve.

Have already "tuned" the EGR so It comes on at cruise conditions, Will test it this weekend............ First with a bulb....

Looked at my CC and I dont remember where to connect the hoses to...... which one goes to the tank and TB?

If you look close enough, I think the canister is actually labelled. I know they used to be for the carb applications. Other than that, I can remember what it looks like at this point.

sounds like you should be in good shape.

Tested it yesterday and it works, had the CC in pass seat and around 5% EGR the canister starts to purge. I will now move some pins and then plug it in and test drive it see how it work hooked up to the engine....

gta324,

Looking to do the same with my CC. How did everything work? Did you have to set anything special in teh chip? I'm not using the EGR in mine because of my Miniram (doesn't have one). I'd just like to purge the canister. Let me know. Thanks

Haven tested it yet, have some other trouble that need to be fixed first before I test drive it with the CC hooked up to the TB.

I have modified tha enable values to my setup (MAP,rpm and so on...) so It will only purge at cruise, then If its correct I dont know. Maybe it should only purge while acc or deacc?

For CC purge qualifiers, have it come on at above 10 MPH (or so), with the throttle open. Off any time the throttle is closed. CC on during WOT is OK, no vacuum to pull purge anyway. Can disable purge if the vacuum goes too high, or a too low MAP (almost the same thing).

Only thing that is missing is the INT/BLM control logic. Under heavy purge the INT/BLM will drop like a rock. Normal ECM logic controls the purge DC% to control the amount of purge fuel added. This is based on the INT & BLM.

I'll test this weekend if the weather allows.

My plan was using %EGR as a highwaymode controling the BPC and with this also controling the CC it will probably go leaner without changing the BPC.

I'm not using learn control in $58.........

You need to talk to sytyguy on www.syty.net he has used the EGR% as a highway mod for a couple of years and is very knowledgeable about about how to get MPG out of it.
