What is a Wide Band 02 sensor?
Alright, I've seen all this talk and I see all these threads where it is mentioned but endless searching cannot give me an answer, and internet searching could not give me an answer relevant to my engine. What is a wide band 02 sensor? What makes it so different from the 02 sensor I already have? How can I use it in conjunction with TBI, more specifically, my EBL setup? Is it worth it? If somebody could pull me into the loop by answering these for me that would be very helpful, and it would probably also give good "search food" for future searchers...

A wideband o2 sensor is an oxygen sensor that more accurately reads air/fuel ratio. Where a narrowband is only accurate around 14.7:1 in Gasoline, the Wideband is accurate from around 5:1 all the way to 20+:1.
The benifit on the EBL is saved time on tuning. You can get the VE tables correct with a narrowband sensor, but it will take you longer.

So how much money total to fully integrate a wideband 02 sensor into my system? What corners can I cut to lower costs? I would like to have one but dont want to go broke on it if the gains are minimal. Will I be able to zero in my tune, open or closed loop, any further than I would be able to without a wideband 02 sensor?

For the lowest cost get a WB unit without a display. Just the basic controller. For cost they vary: $200-$300 will get a decent unit. The Innovate LC-1 is such a unit, but seems to have reliability issues. I believe the Zeitronix can also be purchased as a basic unit (no display).
To use it with the EBL it is a matter of wiring the WB controller to the vehicles electrical system. Installing the WB sensor into the exhaust. Then connecting the WB controller output to one of the EBL ADC inputs. This is the terminal bus at the front edge of the board.
The WUD supports the data logging, conversion, and display of the WB to an AFR value. Two areas that benefit greatly from a WB is AE and PE/WOT. The Analysis 1/4 Mile graphing will show the WB AFR and is also good for AE and other general tuning (even though it is labeled as a '1/4 Mile' feature.

Get one Darkshot.....you will not regret it. I ordered the ZT2 right before the EBL and I found out my WOT tune was "Lean as Popeye's bitch"
I was running at afr levels that people had been saying for years would ruin the engine. It was that lean. The EBL reads the afr from the WB along with all the other data.
