The chip is erased the PP confirms it. I am using a oem chip 27c128 i tried programing in 12.5v and 21v neither works. I also tried to use the fileprom and eprom programs in windows, a dos shell in windows and in straight dos, however i cannot get straight dos to find my .bin file. it says "PATH NOT FOUND" even though i know the path is correct. i was supposed to get new chips on tuesday but i am still waiting, the chip could be bad from me removing it.

thanks
jake

The address has to be exact! drive-:\directory\file.bin In dos. At least in mine, that's the only way it can find it.

Try using the windows software. I have no trouble at all programming 27c128 chips in windows. My pp is only a couple of weeks old and it came with the windows sofware, much easier I think.

I agree, if you CAN use the Windows Version, use it.

If dos can not see the .bin file it might be system hidden.

Are you sure you aren't omitting the final backslash ("\") when it asks for the path to the bin files? Something like "\eprom\bins\"

eprom.exe will then show all the .bin files in the directory. I forget the slash from time to time, and eprom doesn't give any errors, just shows the directory name of "bin" as the only file in there...

I also have troubles using the windows version on my Athalon 850 PC, so I just use DOS in full screen mode.

The windows version does not work either. Eprom.exe does not even recognize either of my hard drives (C:\ or D:\) and i put my bin in there to minimize typing errors. The guy at intronics comes back from vacation tomorow so maybe he can help me. thanks for the help so far.

You are restarting your system in "MS-DOS MODE" aren't you. You can't just use Windows Explorer or the "RUN" command to execute FILEPROM or EPROM. You must use "SHUTDOWN" and then select "RESTART IN MS-DOS".

And when looking for files you MUST specify "C:\FILEDIRECTORYNAME\" with a closeing backslash AND keep the file directory under 8 characters - I doubt it supports long names. I put all my BINS in a directory called "BINS" so I just type "C:\BINS\" and it will list all my BINS.

Not to nitpick, but you should not need to restart your computer in M$DOS. It must be in full screen mode though (by hitting <Alt>+<Enter> in the dos window).
When it's in full screen mode, it gets most of the computer's resources as allocated by windows. I use it this way all the time - no problems.

Lee, if that works, great. Sometimes these DOS programs want to be DOS as per the method I mentioned due to communications with the parallel port. Some computers are forgiving...some are a pain in the butt.

Forcing it to restart in MS-DOS mode just eliminates one possible problem. Once you get it working (in ANY MODE), then you can experiment to see if you can stop a step.
