Windows makes it more eye candy then anything.

The best scanners are Direct Scan, and lockers, then Diacom, a then everything else.

Direct Scan, and Lockers both read off of the ecms edge connector. So they can be read very fast.
Diacom+, because it is so universal, in it's applications.

There was just a posting about how Ease blamed GM for giving them bad data. Makes ya wonder if their customers are beta testing things for them.

The others that come to mind are just one ecm specific, and other then the share/free ware ones get expensive if you want to look at several cars.

Hello Grumpy,

Thanks for the post...Where do I find Direct Scan or Lockers on the web. Are these both Windows run...I know it's eye candy...but I want to stay with one format..I have a 730 ecm in a 91 Z-28. Plan on using tuner cat...Do I need the TDF editor?..

Thanks

You don't need the TDF file editor unless you own the 8746 ecm (TBI). We kind of got the butt end when it came to options in the tdf file. More attention was paid too the 7747 but now I've changed that .
I have Diacom and I like it a lot. It's faster with the 8K baud ecms like yours. Mine is only 160 baud rate so it refreshs maybe ever second (SLOW!!!!).
I too would like to know how that EASE software is working out. Grumpy, didn't you or fastbroker get it?
Where does one get the hardware schimatics to build the interface cables for a locker type software? More importantly, where does one find the "direct" ecm to laptop software?
