165 -> 730 conversion...
I have one simple question, If I decide to convert to the SD (730), will my 165 cal-packs still function?? Limp Home mode, etc, or is that different for the two???

730 uses a 256 eprom.
Also, has additional lil knock filter circuit on it. You'll be much better off using the corresponding memcal.

I agree. Memcals, while not cheap, are not expensive either. In fact, even though my car is an SD car and I had the stock GM Memcal, I bought a second one as a backup. You just never know when something may happen. Also, it helps in "diagnosing" a problem as you can eliminate the Memcal/eprom as a possible problem.
In fact, I am now going to pickup a second ECM, just because...you never know. It's nice to have "known, good" backup parts to allow you to eliminate as many possibilites when the "crap hits the fan". I hate it when you have a problem, get a second part, and you are not certain if the second part is really good as you never had a chance to test it before when everything was fine.

ok, I kind of figured that, they would be different.
Been out of town, havent had a chance to reply...
The problem I have is since I have 87 TPI Formulas, I was thinking about converting over to the SD, Since I have 1 extra ECM & Memcal, I was HOPING all I would need was the ECM & a few sensors, do a little rewiring for the ecm.
Thanks for the clarification
