165 Knock Sensor on a 7730???
I have some info that a 165 Knock sensor can be used on a 7730.. the info I have states
looking at my notes.. GF9 is for the ESC which sounds right..
but BB9 in my notes is for the VSS low connection..
does this all make sense? Will this work or do I have something wrong

I did not think that GM knock sensors really differ all that much between applications. I would also assume that a resistor such as that would actually disable the knock sensor, but I may be wrong.

Those pin out directions seem kind of "half-assed". Why not just spend the 30bucks for the 730 knock sensor if you have any doubts. You can try the 165 sensor first. I ran a 730 knock sensor on my old 165 setup at first(I was switching back and forth without any problems until I got the 730 setup running well).

I agree with that... I actually have the 7730 Knock sensor in the Block on the other side.. I need to call my GM parts guy and see if I can get the connector itself for the knock sensor and just wire it from the drivers side Like Mike Davis did.. this way I can swap back and forth as well.. If I do that.. My conversion will be 98% complete

they do have reasons for what they do.
There can be a big difference from what will work to what will work correctly. Knock detection is not the place to make bad guesses. If you really sure of your work you don't have to run a K/S, but with the gas situation as it is, I wouldn't risk it.

I think I will just get the connector and wire in the correct knock sensor, especially since I have it in the block

Supposedly its a proven connection. Mike Davis claims it works also but never posted it on the website yet. The VSS connection si just a ground. As you know I did this conversion and it didn't work. So I put in a 7730 knock senser. When I went to change the connections around, I realized that I never plugged the wire from the knock senser into the ECM. Duh! So I cannot say weather it works or not persoanlly. I would get knock counts on start up from the test routine. That's the purpose of the 4.3K resistor.

The difference is in the ohms value one is...4300 ohms the other is 98000 ohms quite a diff.
Get the right one if you want it to work.
