VATS question

If your PROM has VATS disabled, would the ECM still trip the code? I'm still working on my fuel problem in the Camaro. Everything seems to be ok but the injectors won't fire. I just pulled code 46 "ECM did not receive the proper signal from vehicle anti-theft system when ignition was turned on." Would this cause the ECM to cut fuel even if I'm able to crank and get spark? The car is retorfited for EFI, it didn't originally have VATS.

The other question is how do I make sure the bin I'm burning has VATS disabled in TunerPro? I see Switch 16 has eight different bits with VATS mentioned in the field. I'm using the Super_8dm2.ecu file with it

I turned off VATS select and the error code 46, but I'm using TunerCats.

Did you make sure you're getting spark from the ignition? If the computer isnt getting a signal from the distributor, it wont fire the injectors.

I'm getting spark at the plugs and I'm using a new ignition module but I'm not sure how to verify if the ECM is getting the reference signal. Can you just use a volt meter or do you have to use an o'scope?

Easy way is to listen for the fuel pump while cranking. No pump, no signal.

Use a scan tool/logger to see the ref pulses while cranking.
They do output, I just checked one of my logs. Injectors do not indicate a PW while cranking from what my data shows.
Just disable the 1 bit (leave the others as they are) to disable it, and as above do the same for the error code enable.

They don't fire every time like when running. So aldl may have just missed it.
Been a while since I looked at start up fuel. I'll have to look again.
There are several mem locations that are PW. ALDL may only use one that is used when in engine running mode.

-VATS will only cut fuel in your case-
Spark during start up is controlled by the dist module.

I burned a new bin with VATS disabled and the car fired right up. Now I just need to do some more tuning. Thanks for the help.
