Aftermarket chip back to stock '89 chip?

I received a reply on another post recommending starting off with a stock '89 bin when I dive into this DIY prom. This got me to thinking, since my car had a JET chip installed before I bought it, and before the motor change, I wonder what would happen if I just put in a stock '89 5.7 eprom. Where would I look for one at? Dealer?

Since the '89s don't have the coldstart injector and therefore have the coldstart enrichment included in the PROM, first thing you'd have to do is disable the coldstart injector.

(Just disconnect the wiring to it until you get a block-off kit).

I think the ARAP code is what you want, but I still have a copy of my original chip from my '89 350 IROC if you want that?

Actually I'm not set up to program yet, but was wanting to switch out the actual JET prom with a stock '89 prom. I don't know what the outcome will be, but if I can come up with a chip pretty cheap I'd like to see what the difference is.

You won't be able to simply put a stock 89 chip in due the to VATS being enabled. Some custom tuning will need to be done to put the 89 code in.
