Can I start with this Bin or what should I use?

I haven't bought the equipment yet but definitely plan to do so soon and I want to have everything I need. I have a ZZ-4 using TPI and I'm using a TPIS custom prom(there's my problem right there). My car was originally a 305 so my questions are:

1. Can I use the ARAP bin with this engine to start after making a few changes for no egr, injector size, etc. and run the car safely without it leaning out or doing damage before trying my own changes to it?

2. What about using a stock 87 350 bin file with the same changes?

3. If I don't do the zif socket mod on the memcal(which I'm going to try) how do I go about getting more memcal style chips for burning? I only see the small "chips" for sale that go into the zif. I would think memcals are expensive unless taken from parts cars.

4. I've read I can't read the TPIS prom info so there's no way to see what they did or modify that one?

I plan on doing my own changes to the prom little by little as I learn more but I need a place to start. Being I only have my original 305 memcal I would like to use one of the 350 bins I mentioned above to start with for ease of beginning if that's ok. Any problems you can think of or things I'm forgetting just let me know. Thanks.

Yes - I would however incorporate a stock timing curve and run the engine a TAD bit lean just to be on the safe side by using an injector constant that is 0.5lb/hr higher. Also make sure that if you are using SVO injectors that you set them for the rated GM flow and not the Ford flow.

You could do this too. However, if it were me I would use the ARAP with a stock type timing curve along with the injectors set 0.5 higher.

Use a Hypertech/Jet adapter as shown in the tech article.

I could read my Level V PROM (gag, ughhh, blaa) very easily. That's why I am burning my own PROMs. I will NEVER understand why they would leave the idle fuel curve untouched when I specified a 218/224 cam. Furthermore, it was worse than that. Instead of decreasing the VE around 50kPa (which is where a cam like this will idle), they decreased the VE at 20kPa slightly. First off, 20kPa?? Gimme a break. Second, they decreased the VE SLIGHTLY?? Gimme a break.

Thanks alot for responding but some of what you said is still beyond me at this time in my learning curve. Some stuff like what I quoted for example purposes, but that's ok. I don't know about the settings for the injector constant, like exactly what to change to go to .5lb/hr higher. I have looked over Tunercat so maybe a little more looking and I will see it.

Currently I'm running new but stock 19lb/hr injectors like my 305 had as recommended by TPIS at a little higher fuel pressure. It doesn't seem to starve for fuel so for now I think I'm ok with them.

So you're saying I can take the ARAP bin and copy the stock timing curve from the stock 350 bin and reburn the prom like that?

About what you said about the idle fuel curve. My car idles like crap with the TPIS prom, it runs o-k but fluctuates and idles a bit high when not fluctuating. With the stock 305 prom in just to check an idle(NOT for driving), the car idled perfect so I was going to start with the ARAP idle fuel curve, is that a bad idea?

Lastly, I saw the Jet Adapter but it looks like from the pic that the adapter plugs into the memcal so how do I plug the memcal back into the ecm? I must be missing something.
