Question about how the ECM calculates fuel..

Alright, I'm not sure how to ask this - but how does the ECM interpolate "inbetween" values, or does it?

i.e. TunerCat shows 1200 RPM, then 1600 RPM, 2200 RPM, etc. (for the '7747) and it shows 20, 30, 40 KPA (etc.) values for vacuum. So, if a sensor value falls in between - i.e. 1400 RPM and 35 KPA - does the ECM interpolate between the values of other cells? Does it just use the one that's closer? (i.e. 1200 and 30 KPA?) How does this work?

Also, does the INT value reflect that as well (if it's interpolated?)

dude, that's a very good question and has been discussed. Searh the archives and you'll find the discussion.

Lars, can you give me a clue what to search for in the archives? (Keyword?) I've been searching for a couple of hours now, reading post after post, and haven't found anything that explains it at all.

From what I've gathered from the hacked '747 document, the ECM does interpolate. It divides up the 'span' into 16 steps. Ie, if the boundaries are 1200 and 1600rpm, then this 400rpm span will get divided into 16 steps, each step representing 25rpm.

THANK YOU NICK! That's the info I'm looking for. I've read through the HAC many times, and don't totally understand ALL of it. What about the vacuum levels? Are they divided also?
