Chip type to purchase?

I recieved in the mail all of my equipment. I also recieved a bag full of Prom non erasable M27c256B chips.... What should I look for in a chip to work with my computer correctly, and what do the letters before the 27C256 mean...??

Those letters refer to the manufacturer (ie AT = Atmel). The AT29C256 EEPROMs are the flash proms that everyone is using...... they need to be 28 pin DIP and I am not really sure which speed is ideal but I am using 120 nano-second ones.... The part number should look something like this: AT29C256-PC12-ND

Hope that helps as i am no expert on this but this is what I am using...... - successfully now !!

The m27c256b is the same chip I am using on the Mercedes. I use the plain 27c256 designation in the win software. All of mine are working well now.

PS, I did have a problem with some faulty chips that were sent to me. I ordered some different ones and all is well now.

When done, be sure to hit the verify key to make sure the chip and the buffer are the same.
