AKM vs. Diacom...

I have to make a decision. Is it worth the extra investment on my car for the Diacom as per easy user interface or should I save the money and buy the AKM? If so is the webpage offering the cable for $90 AKM that is a good place to get an OBD1 connection? I dont want to go splicing anything in too lazy but I really want a good price...

If you have software that will work for your car (I use freescan, I don't know if it will work for you or not), then I would get the AKM cable. If you can find someone to make you one, go for it. My friend can make them but I don't know how into it he is for selling them. I know he sold a few for 50 bucks, and made the ALDL connector out of one of those plastic code scanners you get at autozone (expensive paperclip).

I think diacom has its own special cable for running a parallel port, vs the serial port that the AKM cable uses. This is why I asked about the software you are going to be using.

I have Diacom, it works pretty well. I was able to get my copy used with all of the orignal packaging and literature. The guy even threw in a 386/16mhz laptop to run it with also!
All for 200bucks. If you can find a good deal like I did then Diacom would be worth it. But, there is no way I would pay full price for Diacom, Craigs software works just as well, and its free.

Personally I like the DataMaster software & the AKM cable. I think that it is a nice package for the price, but if you are a mechanic & you have to diagnose several models & types, Diacom makes more sense.

It does not look like it. Looks like the oldest that they go back is 90. I think that your car is a MAF car is it not? if you change to a SD setup, you could use it, but that is a long way around getting thier software.
