Pocket programmer problems?

I have a pocket programmer 2 that I have programmed my first two chips without a problem. I started with two new 27C128's and burned ARAP onto one...everything worked great. Over the past two days I have collected scan data and decided to burn a new bin on the second chip...worked great. I thought I would go ahead erase the other one so I could quickly burn another and just keep repeating this process changing one thing at a time. Well, now I have two chips that say their erased according to blank check, but as soon as you press program it comes up with a programming error and says device not programmed. I've tried erasing them again up to an hour and still get the same programming problem. Everything worked so well the first time I used it, I don't really suspect the programmer. Has anyone else had this happen. I guess all I can do is get more new chips and try it again. Man I really thought I was going to make some gains today!

After reading through the archives last night I see that others have had this exact problem. It says the eprom is erased, but fails as soon as you push program. Guys, did you ever solve it? I tried from DOS fileprom this morning with the same results. Man, this is pissin me off!

I've never had a problem with the PP2 and my 133mhz Fujitsu laptop, running Win95, with any of the chips. Since I broke the Fujitsu last Thursday, I've purchased a 1.0ghz HP with Win ME and have just got everything reloaded. I'm going to try and burn a chip to see if I'm going to have any problems.

What bin editor are you using? I can't say I had the exact problems that you are having, but I had *LOTS* of problems getting the freshly burned EEPROMs (AT29C256s) to work in the car when I was using Winbin... Purchased TunerCat, fell in love, never had a problem since.......

I bought 3 more chips today and 2 worked. The other one did the same thing. I guess it's not a programmer problem. I guess the yield on these "pull" proms isn't very good.

Make sure the little glass window on the EPROM is clean. I use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

After this, re-erase for 10-15 minutes and try again.
