smooth acceleration VS WOT performance

I am working with a local guy on a custom chip for my 350 TBI and we have it running well up to 5,000 RPM. We have gone through a lot of iterations and have good fuel numbers at all rpms. No serious lean or rich spots and no problem with knock retard.
Really, its very drivable and it will pull stong to 6,000 RPM if I accelerate smoothly, but, If I do a run at WOT it runs fine to 5,000 rpm and then starts to break up (popping out the exhaust) after 5,000 rpm and loose power. If I back off from WOT slightly, it pulls fine with no breaking up. JP was kind enough to suggest that We need to work on the WOT afr table (which we haven't done). Any other suggestions would be appreciated cause me and the "Local tuner" are the blind leading the blind. I do appreciate any additonal comments. Thanks.............bob
