165 to 730 ecm swap problems

Getting a code 33 high map and code 43 esc circuit. I used the swap diagram from mike davis's site and used the resistor between pins c and e on the larger (5 prong) esc connector.

Car will start and run for maybe 20 seconds then cut off and is hard to restart without giving it gas. I'm using zz17iroc's superaujp_2 bin as a starting point since we have similar combos, and changed the injector constant and initial timing to match mine.

I've doubled checked each pin from the 165 to the 730 2 times now, swapped map sensors, swapped 730 ecms and same problem.

I am getting 5 volts with the key on at the wire for pin c on the map sensor.
With the ignition on, the map voltage on the autoxray is .92 volts, then when the car is running for that 20 seconds, the map voltage goes from .78 to.84. When I give it gas and the tach goes up around 3000 rpms, the map voltage stays around .78-.84.

Any ideas?

When I turn the memcal around backwards on the moates adaptor, I get 3.84 volts with the key on, but with the memcal the right way, I get .92 volts.

Checked map voltage on pin A and I get 5 volts, pin B I get 4.87 volts just like the shop manual says.

Thinking there is something wrong in my harness, I ran a straight wire from pin b(map signal) to the ecm pin B6, ran D1 from the 165 to D1 on the 730, and ran a wire from map pin C straight to the ecm.

I still get .92 volts with the key on.

Car: 86 Monte SS (730,$8D,G3,AP,4K,S_V4)
Engine: 406 Hyd Roller 236/242
Transmission: 700R4 HomeBrew, 2.4K stall
Axle/Gears: 3:73 Posi, 7.5 Soon to break
On my 730 setup
MAP "A" goes to B6 (Sensor Ground, MAT & MAP 0 V)
MAP "b" goes to F15 (Signal)
MAP "c" goes to A4 (+ 5 V supply)

"D1" on 730 is a main power ground, don't have all my notes here to confirm what it was on the 165.

Could you have ended up with a baro sensor instead of a MAP?
Keying is different, I know that but thought just popped in my head.

I have it wired just the way you have it.

I put my D1 from the 165 to D1 on the 730, but D1 was on B6 before I put it where I have it now.

I picked up another map sensor from napa and it does the same thing.

Does the barometric sensor look exactly like the map sensor?

I have bypassed the maf plug harness and ran a wire from map plug A to B6 from the engine compartment through the passenger side window and down to the ecm plug B6. I did the same with the map plug B to F15. I get the 4.87 volts with the key on, engine off from map plug B and down at the ecm, but the autoxray scanner still shows .92 volts. For grins, I swapped map plug A and C and voltage at the scanner was .50 volts.

The map sensor is getting the 5 volts on the map C plug and putting out the 4.87 volts on map plug B, but the ecm isn't seeing the voltage somehow.

This thing is killing me. I swapped last Saturday and I've messed with this thing every night checking and double checking. I wanted to hit the track on Sat, but it ain't gonna happen now.

If I have to swap back to the 165 ecm I will. I don't know why **** is so easy for everyone else and messed up when I try to do it.

Found it.

The moates adaptor was the problem. The memcal only got me the correct map signal, the adaptor didn't. I stuck a sewing needle in each pin on the adaptor and checked the ohms with a voltmeter to try and fix the adaptor, and it magically worked after that. I'm thinking the sewing needle pushed the pin that was out of alignment back where it needed to be.
