new to programming

well i read through all the stickies from above and i got a simple question. i have taken my dash off to change my heater core, so i know whats back there. i want to know where my computer is. there are 2 computer looking moduals. ons behind the map holder/glove box. the other is deep in the dash. where is the EPROM? will i have to take my freaking dash off again to get at it (plz say no) both comps are on the passengers side. this is from what i saw.

The ECM is the one behind the passenger dash panel. You typically access it by removing the passenger kick panel under the dash. The eprom is on a memcal. You can access this by removing the the metal cover on the ECM (once you remove it).

You remove the memcal by pushing down on the two "tabs" and the memcal is "pushed out" of the socket on the computer board.

If you are in "testing mode; for "quick access" I tuck my ECM up behind the dash but instead of bolting the ECM in, I just tuck a couple of spounges to hold it in place. I don't bother re-installing the kick panel either until I get something I like and want to "drive with it" for a while (before I find something else I want to tweak).

Be careful of reading too much initially - you'll just get mental overload. Take small chunks and make some notes that you can go back and re-read.

I concur.

Understand the basics.

Work on one thing at a time and find all the information on it that you can.

Dont jumble it all together if your not electrically/mechanically blessed.

Go slow and take little steps.

All these mod types that tell u to read and slow down still have to go back and read the stickied posts themselves lol :-)

later
