396 single plane..still tuning issues

Hi!!

i had a chance to drive today with a new .bin...

i list the problems, i have....

1) when start up, i have to coax just a bit, that the engine runs...about 15 secs, or sth...according to my WbO2 the car runs very rich, about 12:1 (and this with air directed to the manifolds, i measure at the collector), this condition goes away after a time, then the car idles smooth with about 15:1 (still Air directed to manifold) and with about 14 zo 1 in closed loop...

where does this extreme (near engine stalling) mixture come from (table)?

2) when the engine is half warm, it idlesfine, blip the throttle a bit, AFR goes down to about 11:1, engine is near stalling, but catches up and continue to run normal...when the engine is full hot, blipping the throttle is fine....

which tables do i have to modify..i tend to mess with the tables, that contain AE vs coolant temperature..?

3) when take off normal, with a bit gas, AFR goes down to 12-13 :1 car starts moving, a bit more gas, clutch fully engaged, AFR goes a short time to about 15,3: 1, bit of hickup occurs....i have adjusted the vE tables in the 1200to1600rpm/ 70-90kpa and it was getting better, but its not good...still more VE in that region?

the Code is ARFP, i also can send datalogs, if someone like to see, and would like to help

thank you for any information!!

Reinhold

First off.

Tune as much of the VE tables as possible for when the car is at operating tempature.

Not doing so will make any changes you do do tempature variances either richer or leaner than you are intending.

I shy away from making tempature corrections until the VE table is at the the least completely roughed in. (unless something is wrong enought the car wont start/stalls,etc)

When you car goes from rich to lean, it it going from open to closed loop? This would be something to look at.

U have AFR vs Temp
and AFR vs MAP/kpa

These are the 2 main tables in open loop that add/subtract from the VE table for cold/open loop fueling.

AE has temp, map, duration, etc. I wouldnt worry about these if your talking about hitting the gas with it in neutral. I could care less what any engine does in park revving or neutral(as long as it idles fine). It does matter when your in gear or under load and making throttle changes :-)

Hit the sticky up top and do some more catch up on some AE reading :-) (im a little rusty right now)

hope this answered soemthing for you.

later
Jeremy

Hi!!

the VE tables i think are close to pefect, except for this are with high kpa and low rpm...

what i referred to case1 all happens with cold engine, no change from open to closed loop...the rich conditions only last a short time, and then goes to a normal value..

i have very conservative open loop changes...
